Huntly Stockcars - The Cornerstone of Speedway
The Stockcar class I looking to be even stronger this coming season should see full fields every meeting.
Last season’s overall winner 27H Brett Aikin will have a job on his hands to retain that title having to contend with the likes of 57H Luke Ross in only his second season claimed 2nd overall, then there will be the Cheetham’s 361H Clinton and 97H Kacey, 4H Josh Humber, 45H Matthew Shaw with a new car, 16H James Marshall last season didn’t go his way but has proven can be up on the podium, ever consistent 8H Larry Henderson, 88H Hutch will be back for another season once fully recovered from his off-track injury. Then you can never write off 7H Hamish Whyte, 32H Jayden Dreadon-Manning, 24H Brad Philpott. Newcomers 77H Grant Jury and 25H Campbell Bryce improved as the season went on.
Joining the ranks stepping up from Ministocks will be 29H Blake Lockett, 62H Riley Kendall and joining the club 72H Cody Harford and 19H Ashlee Morton.
Rumoured to be returning after a few years break from racing are 78H “Hillbilly” and 89H Rob Taylor. And joining the ranks as 34H Kevin Mooney.
There are also unconfirmed rumours of one or two stockcars making the move to Huntly from other tracks.
Event wise even though we don’t have any SNZ titles to run this season there will still be plenty of highly contended action-packed meetings with the Waikato Champs, the Memorial meeting, the increasingly popular Turf Wars and the return of a Stockcar Teams event, plus a best pairs night.
